Some Exceptions to the Oneworld Alliance Benefits 

The travellers should keep in mind that some exceptions might apply to the benefits of the Oneworld Alliance. However, here are the following exceptions:  

• Some priority services also vary upon the individual policy of the Oneworld airline operating the flight.
• Emerald tier holders can carry extra checked baggage weighing max 20 kg (for itineraries using a baggage weight system). Meanwhile, they can carry one additional bag for free (for itineraries using the piece system).
• Sapphire frequent flyers on international or domestic flights can carry additional checked baggage up to 15 kg(using the baggage weight system) in Economy Class. However, for international itineraries, that include domestic sectors one additional bag weighing up to 23kg, up to a maximum of two pieces (using baggage piece system). 
• Whereas, Sapphire tier holders travelling domestic flights can carry one piece of checked baggage weighing up to 23 kg(itineraries using baggage piece system) including the passenger having tickets with no ticketed baggage entitlement.
• First and Business Class passengers get a greater free checked baggage allowance.
• Special checked baggage privileges are provided on British Airways’s Hand Baggage Only or Basic fares.

Tier Status of Oneworld and its benefits 

It has three loyalty tiers Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald that are designed to reward frequent travelers. However, the passenger’s frequent flyer status determines their tier level in this program.
